Shirl has run two tough campaigns against Representative Sherman in the 74th District; this will be her third run. She is committed to bringing her conservative values to Madison. It has taken time to get name recognition and coverage in the very large geographic area. The 74th Assembly District covers Ashland, Bayfield, Iron and Sawyer Counties in the northern part of Wisconsin.

Welcome to my website. I hope you will visit often. If there is something you would like to see and/or anything that you'd prefer not to, please let me know. I want to make this visitor friendly and include all the information that is relevant to you!
A little about me: I grew up in the Midwest in a middle class family that struggled to make ends meet. My dad worked in a factory and my mom stayed home with the kids. Real family values were instilled in me from my youth. I went through public schools. After high school and some Jr. College, I decided that the US Navy was for me. The distinct privilege of serving our country as a proud member of US Navy is where I started to realize how important it is to become involved in and work for what you believe in. I became very active -- and have been ever since -- belonging to various clubs, working with many organizations, and making sure I always exercised my civic right and duty -- by VOTING! A quote from one of my favorite Presidents -- Ronald Reagan -- is what I base my political life on:

I see a state with taxes that are too high, spending that is out of control, and fewer and fewer jobs for the people living here.
I am running because I believe we need a change in leadership in Madison!
We need legislators who listen to the people, who are responsible with our hard earned tax dollars, and who enact policies that strengthen businesses, create family supporting jobs, and shrink the size of government.
As a small business owner, I know what it takes to balance a budget and make the difficult decisions necessary for success.
Currently, I work holding down a couple jobs to help my family make it in today's economy. My husband and I own and operate Mr. Ed's Plumbing, Hayward, Wisconsin, he does the plumbing, with occasional help from me, and I do the bookwork and day to day activities. I also work for two other local companies as a consultant. We are very active in the community both believing that we need to give back to the wonderful community that has given so much to us!
First and foremost I am a wife, mom and a proud US Navy Veteran, a 2 term School Board Member, Former Executive Officer of Northland Area Builders Association, and community servant: Hayward Area Chamber of Commerce, Musky Festival Parade Chair, Festival of Trees Chair, Sawyer County Republican Party Chair, Host Family for Rotary Foreign Exchange Students, Elizabeth Home of Hope / Salvation Army Fundraising Board, Lay Ministry, National Rifle Association Member, and American Legion, to mention a few.
My run to represent you and all the citizens of the 74th district has changed with the appointment of the current Representative to Judge - this will be an open seat for the first time, and I need your help and support so we can send someone to Madison that is a fiscal conservative, who will work for your rights. I am asking you to take a stand with me to make a difference in our district!
No question or comment is too big or small. Please feel free to leave your comments on my BLOG. I want to meet each one of you, shake your hand, but, most of all I want to serve you in Madison, I believe it is an honor and privilege to serve!
